Side Effects of Tata Nano Car

UPDATE (1/27/08): Kirtish Bhatt, the cartoonist who’s actually made these, surprisingly, e-mailed me today. I wanted to let you guys know that you can go to his blog to view more cartoons. And believe me, they’re lovely. :)

I never thought that I would do a post on Tata Nano, but I got these really funny cartoons in a forwarded e-mail. Since they’re in Hindi, I’ve tried to translate them to English.

A man goes to a car show room and wonders if he can exchange his two wheeler for a Tata Nano car

Inside a car showroom- a simple man has enough money to book not one, but TWO Nanos!

An advisor tells a politician ” Television etc. are old things…now tell people that you’ll give them a new car”. The old saying “Food, Clothes and House” should be extended to “Food, Clothes, House and Car”.

In a toy shop, a boy tells his father that he doesn’t want the toy car. He wants a real car like Tata Nano.

Even an ordinary man staying in a small house has a Tata Nano, even though his house might not be centrally heated!

Beggars get more freedom with their new found mobility, thanks to Tata Nano.

You’ll never ever be stuck in a traffic jam, thanks to Nano’s style and design. ;)

People driving “People’s Car” ask for “People’s petrol” at gas stations!

A politician is worried because of a new demand made by men- “Parking reservations for poor people!”

A wife tells her husband, “These days, our maid has a new excuse- I got late because the car tire got punctured!”

(If you find a particular translation to be wrong, then please leave me a comment with your suggestion).

  7. Like mobile revolution, I bet one day we will have this situation
    Number of cars in a house = Number of family members

    and there will be advertisements on TV like

    A girl asks her mother a riddle
    Shopping le jaata hai (Takes us for shopping)
    School se lata hai (Lift us from school)
    Barish se bachata hai (Saves us from Rain)
    Batao kaun (What’s that)
    Hamari nayi Nano :)

    I wish Nano solves the chaos seen on our roads
    A poor motorcycle loaded with a family of four

    Oh so this forward is that popular, eh? :P And I thought that I’m the lucky one to get it. Anyway, I found it to be really funny. So I posted it. Besides, I had no time to write a post ;) Even I loved that maid wala and the Beggar one. Let’s wait for that day to come.

    @Dinsan

    Thanks :)

    @Nita

    If you would have posted it, then I wouldn’t have been able to ;) Roti Kapda and Car is indeed very good too. I don’t know how these people even manage to make such innovative cartoons!

    @Ankur

    Looks like it. Let’s wait for these cartoons to actually come true!

    @Ulag

    Yes, they’re really funny :D Imagine if the beggar one comes true…how much do you have to pay beggars then? At least Rs. 10 to cover the cost of “People’s petrol”.

    @Anurag

    Uncle?! Tab toh you can give all of us Nanos for free ;)

    @Rohit

    Having one car per family is actually the rule (esp. in small towns) rather than an exception in the US. So, if the per capita income of India increases and cheaper cars become accessible, then I’m sure more people will start buying cars. Of course, I’m assuming that the Govt. will do something about the poor infrastructure, and this change might not even happen.

    Sp, instead of solving the chaos, Nano will only increase it…if new roads are not built. :)

    Btw, nice jingle and thanks for dropping by! :)

    @Maq

    Thanks for dropping by :) These two seem to be a hot favorite. Eve I loved these two.

  14. Yeah, I’ve had this mail many times too but that doesn’t reduce it’s greatness lol, it’s amazing.

    Btw, cool new theme yaar, love the way it capitalizes the first letter in a new sentence. Wicked cool. Try increasing the width of the comment box if it isn’t too much of a bother. Otherwise, superb!

  15. Balu- Exactly! Don’t know what’ll happen. I read an article that said that Dino Morea is planning to buy this car and everyone is scandalized.

    Ish- Yep, it’s funny nonetheless. Even though these cartoons have been forwarded so many times, I’m getting lots of hits for this post! Looks like there are people out there who don’t know about it. Tata Nano is definitely the hot topics these days.

    I hope I’m not changing my themes too often! I was really dying to try out this one by Wank. It’s so uplifting somehow :) I don’t know how to increase the width of the comment box…let’s see. I’ll post the question in the forum and hopefully, someone will know.

    Reply

  16. Nah, I don’t think you’re changing themes too often. You’re basically searching for the perfect one and once you get that, you’ll RIP a.k.a. Rest In Peace. Don’t rip in the other way though. :P

    Also while you’re asking how to increase the width of the comment box in the forums, also ask if there’s a way to increase the size of the text in the comment box. Dunno about you but looks a little small to me.

    Reply

  17. Ish- I R.I.P for only a short duration ;) Let’s see how long I keep this theme. I really loved the floral design because I’ve never used such a girly theme before. Even I noticed that the font size in the comments box is quite tiny. Hopefully, someone should be able to help me out. Oh, and I even want to change the fonts in the sidebar to small caps. Not being able to do it. :(

    Reply

  18. Ah, I have no idea how you can make that small caps without having a look at it. Can you e-mail me your stylesheet at the new GMail ID? I might be able to figure it out then.

    Ruhi: Will do! Thanks :)

    Hi ! after reading this I am feeling better, as earlier I thought that everyone is going crazy for NANO all over the country without bothering about the adverse effects which we all will witness in the future.But there r many people who have same views.
    I like the (Begger’s and maid’ one) all other are also good.
